11 December 2011 Update: The RSME would like to thank everyone who came out to join us for some holiday fun at our Holiday Frosty Run!

We would like to take a moment to also thank all of the members and volunteers who helped out as well. Without your help such events would not be possible!

01 December 2011 Update: As December comes into focus we find some updates to the RSME website. The first update I made was the hotbox with upcoming events. I listed our upcoming Holiday Frosty Run! It will be held on December 10, 2011 from 12pm - 5pm. We invite everyone to come out and enjoy the holiday lights and visits from Santa Claus. You can get all the information off of our December schedule page. I also made changes to our officer’s page. Our new club President officially takes office today.

RSME Members: Please contact Bill L. and let him know if and how you will be able to assist during the Holiday Frosty Run.

23 November 2011 Update: I have a minor update today. I made a change in the RSME schedule concerning the Explorer Post. Due to issues beyond our control, Explorer Post 902 meetings have been canceled until at least the end of the year. The committee in charge of the Explorer Post would like to ask that you check back often to see when these issues have been resolved and meetings are resumed.

20 November 2011 Update: I have a minor update today. I added the RSME Membership Renewal / Upgrade Application to the membership page. This form is intended for existing members who are renewing their membership or more importantly those members who wish to advance their membership to the next level.

04 November 2011 Update: Additional update just in! The RSME President has requested a work session for this Saturday November 5, 2011 to do damage control and clean up at the RSME property from this past weekends Winter weather event. I have added this event to the November calendar. The President is asking that anyone who is available please come up and help out. If you have a chain saw and or any other tools you think would be useful for cutting up and removing trees please bring them with you.

Details...
Date: November 5, 2011
Start Time: 9am (as early as you can be at the club)
End Time: ??? (as late as people can work)

If you have any questions please email or call Bill I. President RSME!

The RSME would like to thank everyone in advance for any and all support you can give during these difficult times!

04 November 2011 Update: I have a minor update today. I uploaded the 2012 schedule to the calendar. I will update the links for the Open House events listed on the May, August, and October calendars once we get the flyers made up.

I was also able to add our first photo from the past supplied by a current member. This is the start of our then and now project. This first picture comes from our own Acting Treasurer David S. It features himself and his sister watching the trains go by on the 2-rail O scale layout on the second floor of the club house. You can find this picture in the Historical Gallery at the bottom of the page. As I get more photos from other members I will start to setup a special gallery for this project.

02 November 2011 Update: I have a couple updates today. However I must apologize for the delay in getting all of them up and running. The first stumbling block was my work schedule last week and then the second caught me by surprise. Here in North Eastern PA we got a heave wet snow fall over the Halloween weekend. Unfortunately as you might have seen in the news this caused power outages all over the place. Some people still do not have power back yet! With that being said on behalf of the RSME the Website Administrator would like to wish the best to all those who are still dealing with not having power. We hope that you get your services back quickly!

On to the updates...

1. I updated was the schedule link on the tracks. it now points to the November 2011 calendar.
2. I finally got the pictures posted from the Fall 2011 Open House. Please go to the photo gallery and select your favorite section to view the pictures.
3. This is the big one! The RSME is finally on FACEBOOK! That's right folk we are moving into the 21st century. You can find the RSME by looking up Reading Society of Model Engineers on Facebook or simple click the link on the home page and it will open in a new window for you. Along with this update I also put an easy to access link to our YouTube channel as well. I hope to see many new faces friend us on both of these services.

The only thing I have not gotten done yet is a video montage of this past open house. I hope to finish that up buy the end of this week but can not promise anything at the moment. In the mean time I hope that everyone enjoys the new material that I have posted and the new services as well.

18 October 2011 Update: I posted pictures of the Explorer Post 902 field trip to WK&S railroad for the 5th Annual Caboose Rides sponsored by Brian's Model Trains. We got to ride on the 1pm train in an authentic Reading Railroad NMj class North East style caboose. Everyone had fun and friendships grew stronger among the group. To check out the photos of this event click on the Photo Gallery tie to the left and then select the Explorer Post 902 Gallery!

12 October 2011 Update: I updated the Officers page. We now have an Acting Treasurer. His name is David Spohn Jr. David was elected to the office of Treasurer but is already taking on those duties for the next 2 months until he officially assumes the role in December. Members, if you have not already taken a moment to thank and congratulate David in his new role at the RSME please make an opportunity.

I also updated the December calendar to reflect a picnic that is scheduled and the RSME Frosty Run. Unfortunately the flyers for the Frosty Run are still on the printing press. We ask that you check back soon for more information on this RSME public event!

I just wanted to remind everyone that the RSME Fall Open House is coming up in a little over 1 week. We would love to see everyone come out and enjoy a train ride in the woods while enjoying the fall foliage. To get all the information about the Open House please, click on the Schedule tie to the left. To get directions to our property please, click on the Directions tie on the left.

RSME members please remember we need your help. You are an important part of making all public events a huge success. If you are available for a picnic please contact Bill I. and if you are available for other public events like the Open House and Frosty Run we would ask that you contact Bill L. Both of these gentlemen can be reached by using the officers page. Just click on either one of their names and let them know what you are available for. Remember it is vital that we have help from all available members no matter how much or how little time you can give towards any of these events.

01 October 2011 Update: I made a quick update to the site. I updated the Hotbox to reflect the public events that are scheduled for this month. I also updated the Schedule link to go to the October calendar.

28 September 2011 Update: I have made a few changes to the site. It is our hope that these changes will help us better serve the public who come to our website and visit our club.

We finally put up most of the contact forms for the RSME. The forms that we have up and running so far are for the BOD and the Committee Chairs. We also have a form up that will allow people to inquire about having group activities on the clubs property. This form is located under the Picnic Info link on the railroad track to the left. You can use it to request more information and reserve a date for your groups activity.

We also added a link to our new friends at the Susquehanna Division 11 of the Mid-Eastern Region of the National Model Railroad Association. Please take a moment to click on the link and visit their site.

We enjoy hearing from the public and look forward to seeing your emails. We invite everyone to take advantage of the new forms to communicate with us about anything you would like to know about the club. We also look forward to hearing from anyone interested in signing up to have a group activity at the club. If neither of those apply to you then please at the least take a moment to say hi and sign our guestbook!

20 September 2011 Update: I have finally gotten a video up on the RSME's official YouTube channel. With that I have also added a new tie to the track on the left. We now have a Video Gallery section. My hope for this section is to populate it with videos of both public and private events. I am also going to try and capture some of the work sessions on video as we work on larger projects together. All of this like many things at the RSME are dependent on the availability of our club's members and in some cases the cooperation of Mother Nature herself. In the mean time I invite everyone to check out our YouTube channel and subscribe to it.

RSME's Official YouTube Site

On another note I am still working hard at getting the contact forms up and running. I have been struggling with one minor issue on the Picnic Event signup form. I am hopeful to have this resolved shortly. Please check back often for that update!

01 September 2011 Update: Now that I am back from vacation I have made some changes to the website. The following updates and changes have been applied.

1. Updated the rescheduling of the Southeast PA Garden Railway Group picnic from August 27th to September 3rd do to interference from Hurricane Irene.

2. Updated the HOTBOX to reflect recent upcoming public events.

3. Changed the Schedule link in the menu to point at the September calendar of events.

16 August 2011 Update: I added two dates to the Schedule page. These are both private picnics that are scheduled for this year. The President has asked that a general announcement be put out on the website so that any members that are available to help can contact him and let him know when you are available to help.

I was also asked by the membership committee to please put out a general reminder that members who have not paid their dues for the 2011 are in the rears. We would like to see you pay your dues and renew your membership with the RSME so that you can continue to take full advantage of all that the RSME has to offer. Please take a moment and fill out the membership form found in the January edition of the news letter. Then send that in with your dues to the club. If you need to make other arrangements please feel free to contact the Membership Committee so that arrangements can be made. We hope to see you soon!

I uploaded two of the newsletters from this year. It was my oversight that neglected to get them posted sooner. For that I express my sincerest apologies to both our members and patrons alike.

09 August 2011 Update: I uploaded what pictures I was able to get during the Summer Open House. If any members or guests have pictures from the open house and would like to get them published on our website. Please email the website administrator to discuss how we can get your photos published on our site!

08 August 2011 Update: Well now we have another Open House in the bag... The RSME would like to thank everyone that came out and had fun with us over the weekend. We hope that you enjoyed yourself to spite the semi gloomy weather! We will be having another Open House this fall to end the season but in the mean time we would like to invite everyone who did not make it to our event this past weekend, to come out to our monthly run days. The next run day is on September 4, 2011. You can also check out our schedule for a calendar of events.

We will be post some new pictures shortly of the Open House. Please check back soon for those!

The website administrator on behalf of the RSME would also like to send out a thank you to all who volunteered to come out this weekend and make the Summer Open House a success.

THANK YOU TO ALL!!!!

Mr. Leth would like to thank all members who have touched base with him about helping at this public event! Both him and I hope that we can have a very successful weekend!

Let the fun begin for both our guests and our members!

02 August 2011 Update: Holy smokes this Website Administrator is on fire. I recently added some new photos and commented out the existing photos in the Explorer Post 902 gallery. I am planning on working on the other groups right after Summer Open House providing that I can some of the newer pictures that members have offered along with me trying to take some pictures during the Summer Open House. The clock is ticking and I can not stress the importance of the help from our members when hosting these public events. So please help in any way you can, even if you can only give a few hours and not the whole day. If everyone helps out I am sure we can have an outstanding weekend filled with fun for our visitors and members alike!

25 July 2011 Update: I would like to announce the official YouTube home for the RSME. Our YouTube name is RSMEORG. As of right now I do not have any videos posted on it because I still have to do some editing. I do invite everyone to subscribe to our channel in the mean time and I will work on getting the videos uploaded as soon as possible. Here is a link to our YouTube home.

If everyone helps out I am sure we can have an outstanding weekend filled with fun for our visitors and members alike!

22 July 2011 Update: I added 19 more links of places to stay in and around the Reading area. I attempted to keep all the places to a maximum of 30 minutes travel time away from us. Most are much closer than that being only about 10 - 15 minutes away from us. I hope that the links will help those of you who travel a long distance, find a place to stay, and be safe while you visit us at our public events like the Open Houses! As like last time I updated the links page you will know the new links from the old ones by the yellow asterisk placed beside it.

I would like to remind everyone that we are now a little over 2 weeks away from the Summer Open House. It will be held on August 6th and 7th from 12pm - 5pm. The RSME would like to invite everyone to come join us for a day of fun at this public event. To get more information on this or to share the information with friends and family please visit our August schedule and download the Open house flyer.

18 July 2011 Update: I updated the membership information. Now the Lite Rail information is listed along with all the other special interest groups of the RSME. Along with that information being added, I am also updating the schedule page to reflect the Lite Rail work days.

I would like to remind everyone that we are now a little over 2 weeks away from the Summer Open House. It will be held on August 6th and 7th from 12pm - 5pm. The RSME would like to invite everyone to come join us for a day of fun at this public event. I would also like to take a moment and say that I am very proud that we are just about finished with all the "fine tuning" that needs to be done to the website. However it does not end there. This website can continue to grow and be better with input from members and guests alike. If you have ideas to help make the website more interesting to fellow visitors please feel free to either sign our guestbook or email the website administrator directly and we will be glad to examine the possibilities of your idea.

13 July 2011 Update: Yesterday I made a change to the guestbook that in retrospect I feel was not the right one. Today I am reversing that decision and have lifted the "read first then approve" policy. In reflecting on that decision I felt that I can find a better way to handle this situation and that it is sending the wrong message across to people who would like to sign our guestbook. With that being said I must ask that visitors to our site please understand that we are going to do as much as we can to keep the content that is on our website in a "family oriented" direction.

I have also added a new link to the site. I put a link to the Historical Society of Berks County on our link page. It is located under the "Museums / Historical Societies" section and has a yellow asterisk (*)aside of it! I would also like to encourage visitors to share any links they think would fit in well with us here at the RSME. Please just drop the Website Administrator a line by clicking on his name on the officers page and we will be sure to consider it as an addition to the links we already have.

I would like to remind everyone again that our Summer Open House is coming soon. It is only 3 weeks and 4 days away on the weekend of August 6th and 7th from 12pm - 5pm. The RSME would like to invite everyone to come join us for a day of fun at this public event. To get more information on this or to share the information with friends and family please visit our August schedule and download the Open house flyer.

I would also like to remind members to please contact Mr. Leth via the Officers page with your availability to help at this public event. If everyone helps out I am sure we can have an outstanding weekend filled with fun for our visitors and members alike!

12 July 2011 Update: Unfortunately do to some spam issues that have been happening on our guestbook we have instituted a "read first then approve" policy on our site for the guestbook. We would still love to hear from any and everyone that has visited our site and our club. However we feel we need to take this measure to be proactive in keeping our site a "family friendly" place to visit!

It is our hope that our guest will understand and appreciate us taking these measures!

We would like to also take a moment to point out that the Summer Open House is on August 6th and 7th. This is only 3 weeks and 4 days away! Please set the date aside and join us at the RSME for this fun filled public event. You can get more information on the August schedule page on our site.

Members of the RSME, please talk with your interest groups committee chairperson to see how you can help to prepare for this public event.

4 July 2011 Update: I updated three things today... the schedule... the HOTBOX and the new and improved guestbook! Please take a moment and swing by to let us know what you think of the new site and the club in general!

The RSME would like to wish everyone a Happy Fourth of July!

30 June 2011 Update: I did multiple but minor changes to the site today.

1. I removed the HOTBOX page and placed the "HOTBOX" information on the home page. This will list upcoming PUBLIC events and other important PUBLIC information that the RSME would like to share. Most of these items you will be able to click on and they will take you to a page where you can get the details of the posted item.

2. I changed the name of the "timetable" link to "news letter" to lessen the chance of confusion between the word timetable and schedule in the menu to the left.

3. I setup the new emails for all the officers of the RSME. The officer's name listed under the office on the officer's page will now rout you to these email address.

Please take a look around and feel free to email the website administrator if you have any questions comments or concerns about the website.

28 June 2011 Update: I added a link to the home page for the Picnic Pavilion Flyer!

25 June 2011 Update: The RSME website is being managed by a new member in the RSME. We now have a completely new look and feel to the site. We will now strive to bring a steady stream of up to date information while implementing new and exciting interaction for both the members and guests to our site. Please take the time to look around, check out our site rebuild, and let us know what you think!
